Job overview

The Integration Engineer will work within the Applications Team, supporting the Trust Integration Engine and working closely with Pathology & Radiology Teams to provide management of the ICE System, supporting regional wide order communications.

 

They will work as part of the team providing 24/7 cover, ensuring that the Clinical Teams across the Trust have safe, reliable, and well-managed systems to enable the best possible care for our patients.

 

You will support the day-to-day business continuity of digital system integration across the Trust, ensuring that messages are successfully flowing between systems, enabling clinicians to make better informed decisions for patient care.

 

This will involve working with a number of technologies and systems, all linking back to and through the Trust Integration Engine (HealthShare/Ensemble) and maintaining the ICE Order Comms system used across the Integrated Care System for orders and results.

Main duties of the job

  • Working with pathology and radiology to manage and configure ICE for use across the region
  • Working with partner organisations to ensure they can successfully access and use systems
  • Assist with maintenance and management of Trust Integration Engine
  • To ensure all integration components are fully monitored, and alerts acted upon accordingly
  • Create and update Standard Operating Procedures for use across the team
  • Maintaining Interface Maps, and ensuring documentation is up to date for all components
  • Log, manage and resolve helpdesk calls in a timely manner, ensuring end users are kept informed of progress and service is delivered to quality standards
  • Working with technical teams and external suppliers in the resolution of tickets and issues on behalf of users, owning issues through to resolution

Perform required administration of order comms systems, including management of reference tables, user profiles, workstation accounts, user accounts, system rights etc…

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Overview

They will work as part of the team providing 24/7 cover, ensuring that the Clinical Teams across the Trust have safe, reliable, and well-managed systems to enable the best possible care for our patients.

Job Purpose

You will support the day-to-day business continuity of digital system integration across the Trust, ensuring that messages are successfully flowing between systems, enabling clinicians to make better informed decisions for patient care.

This will involve working with a number of technologies and systems, all linking back to and through the Trust Integration Engine (HealthShare/Ensemble) and maintaining the ICE Order Comms system used across the Integrated Care System for orders and results.

The post-holder will need to be adaptable and capable of using their judgement to prioritise and make decisions. They must be prepared to listen to and understand System and Quality Management issues raised by users, and successfully resolve any problems identified.

The post-holder will be expected to convey a positive, professional image, representing the Digital Team. They must demonstrate a proactive approach to meet requests for support, and exercise appropriate initiative in a high profile and busy environment and be able to demonstrate the ability to liaise effectively and confidently with people at all levels.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Working with pathology and radiology to manage and configure ICE for use across the region
  • Working with partner organisations to ensure they can successfully access and use systems
  • Assist with maintenance and management of Trust Integration Engine
  • To ensure all integration components are fully monitored, and alerts acted upon accordingly
  • Create and update Standard Operating Procedures for use across the team, ensuring compliance with Quality Management System requirements
  • Suggesting and creating improvements in system integrations
  • Maintaining Interface Maps, and ensuring documentation is up to date for all components
  • Supporting the ongoing development and implementation of systems through validation and testing phases, and transition into live
  • Log, manage and resolve helpdesk calls in a timely manner, ensuring end users are kept informed of progress and service is delivered to quality standards
  • Working with technical teams and external suppliers in the resolution of tickets and issues on behalf of users, owning issues through to resolution
  • Work within defined deadlines as part of a team and on an individual basis
  • Perform required administration of order comms systems, including management of reference tables, user profiles, workstation accounts, user accounts, system rights etc…
  • Manage changes through multiple interconnected systems to ensure the continuity of orders and results across the connected systems

Physical, Mental & Emotional Effort & Working Conditions

  • There is a frequent requirement for prolonged concentration and working on a computer
  • There is an occasional requirement to exert intense physical effort for short periods
  • Exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances is rare
  • Exposure to unpleasant working conditions such as cold and noisy air-conditioned Data Centres may be required
  • Requirement to perform duties at all locations where Trust staff are based, including locations not owned by the Trust, and other locations determined by the duties of the post
  • Travel to off-site venues, as required, to attend courses, conferences as designated
  • Work pattern may be unpredictable
  • Some flexible working required in the delivery of digital clinical systems

In addition, records, including VDU screens and computer printouts of registered data must never be left in such a manner that unauthorised persons can obtain access to them. Written records must either be destroyed or retained in safe custody when no longer required, VDU screens should always be cleared when unattended.
