Job overview
Do you enjoy learning new clinical skills in a positive, fast paced environment? Our team is focused upon professional development and career progression. We thrive in using person centred approaches to care and are looking for enthusiastic and patient focused nurses to join the team. Radiology nursing is a rapidly growing specialty and this is an opportunity for you to use your nursing skills in a positive, supportive way, caring for patients before and after their procedures and assisting with interventional imaging across acute and outpatient pathways.
We welcome applications from all nurses, including Newly Registered Nurses, although previous experience in interventional radiology, endoscopy, or theatre is advantageous. Training will be given to successful applicants by our in-house Radiology Clinical Nurse Educator, ensuring that you get a robust induction and supernumerary period, and feel supported to gain knowledge and clinical experience of Radiology Nursing.
The work hours varies, and offer a more sociable life-work balance. Shifts are rostered between Mon-Fri 08.00-20.00 and Sat-Sun 9.00-17.00. An on-call roster is also staffed to ensure patient care delivery out-of-hours. The on-call duties are rostered 7 days/week from 20.00 until 00.00 hrs. We are proud to be working to a rolling shift pattern which gives staff certainty and predictability around the expectation of full filling 4 shifts / month as on-call Radiology staff nurse.
Main duties of the job
Radiology Nurses are passion advocates for patients and their safety, champion the trust values and have the desire to work within a dynamic and inspiring team.
You will work in a diverse and engaging environment as part of a multi-disciplinary team of consultant radiologists, radiographers, nurses and support staff to deliver safe, effective and efficient care to all patients attending the radiology department.
Radiology Nursing is exciting- it’s varied and no day is the same.
It could involve:
Acting as a scrub and circulating nurse during different interventional radiology procedures
Supporting patients during admission and post procedure care, providing safe discharges for patients
Providing clinical nursing experience across other image guided procedures, including CT, MRI, Ultrasound and Fluoroscopy
Working in a supportive and transformative team, with other Radiology Nurses, Radiology Care Assistants, Radiographers, Sonographers and Radiologists.
Leading the development and aspirations of a large team of Radiology Care Assistants, giving you opportunity to develop your leaderships skills.
